At Universal Precision Instruments we strive to provide a 'one stop shop' for production of your medical device needs. We provide prototyping services, advice for instrument design, special production, and full production run capabilities under one roof.
CAD/CAM
We utilize CAD/CAM software from Esprit and Alpha-CAM, which provides a direct link via our wireless network from our engineering office to all of out CNC machining station. We also have seats of both Solid Works and AutoCAD, for use in interpreting solid models into CNC machining code.
CNC Swiss Lathe and Chucker
Our lathe department provides turning capabilities with live tooling down to tolerances of 0.0002. With two quick set-up machines we can work in your specials and prototypes with minimal delay. Our operators have up to 12 years experience each in medical device production.
CNC Milling
Our milling department features four Haas mills with 4 axis capability. Our experienced operators can hold tolerances down to 0.0004 on even the most complex parts.
CNC EDM
We feature Sodick wire EDM with Glass Scale to achieve unparalleled tolerances for your most demanding production. We also have a Sodick Small Hole EDM Drill to quickly create cannulation in most instruments.
CNC Laser Etching
With seven years experience of laser etching we understand the complexity of permanently labeling a part without causing rust. We salt test all production lots to validate we are providing production that will exceed expectations. We can provide 4th axis (circumferential) etching and extremely small size lettering.
Polishing
Our polishing department provides the detail work to make your devices the final touch that turn an instrument into a beautiful device. We do bead blasting, polishing, and color buffing in house with experienced people.
Grinding, Gun-Drilling, Etc.
With a number of machines in house we can provide quick response or we work with a group of excellent outside vendors to assure that we can always meet your requirements.
Materials
We stock a large inventory of surgical grade materials to assure quick turn around.
